Since late 2005, we have begun the process of acquiring existing 'official' School photographs from their owners for the purposes of archiving and making them available for viewing from this web site. We named the project 'Visio' - the latin for 'face'.

Please note that the photographs are provided in two versions. Clicking on the 'view' option loads a 'reduced quality version' that loads quickly onto your screen, whilst clicking on the 'download' option links to the original large file, and is suitable for high quality pritning once downloaded.

We hope we have retained enough of the detail for you to identify yourself, as well as friends and colleagues.

Acquiring the copyright to the photographs has been a long journey! You may be interested in reading the text that follows. It outlines how we acquired full control over the photographs.

As many of you will recall, many of the photographs were taken by a company called 'Panora Ltd'.

Sadly, after a brief visit to Eagle St in London, and maybe not surprisingly, Panora no longer exists there. My thanks to the many members of

Croydonian - The Selhurst Subscribers' Mailing List
and Mel Lambert, WebMaster of the John Ruskin Web Site

for clarifying the situation regarding Panora Ltd.

"Panora Ltd.'s negatives were deposited in 1986 with the Documentary Photography Archive (DPA) by the firm's managing director, who had sold his business but retained the negatives. These date from September, 1968, to July, 1985; earlier negatives have not survived. Panora Ltd was subsequently dissolved in 1989. DPA is an independent registered charity whose collections are housed at The Greater Manchester County Record Office"

Manchester County record Office advised us that someone does own the copyright to these, and in October 2005, we received a reply from the copyright holder, Roy Fraser, confirming the situation with regard to the use. Click on this link for the email and more information about copyright.

If you have any of the official school photographs you'd be willing to lend us, please contact or any Committee Member or

Steve, the WebMaster
